Luis Suarez Hat Trick in Liverpool Win – Liverpool Tickets Comments Off

Luis Suarez, FC Liverpool

Luis Suarez Hat-Trick Delivers 3-0 Victory to Liverpool

Liverpool FC is in eighth place in the Premier League table going into their clash v Chelsea FC in the upcoming FA Cup Final Match.

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez scored a beautiful goal from 55 yards to complete a stunning hat-trick in a 3-0 Premier League victory for FC Liverpool against Norwich City at Carrow Road today.

Manager Kenny Dalglish had praise for Suarez and the rest of his men following the win.

“It is called a work in progress,” said Dalglish. “We have said that before and there is no need for us to change.

“After the Carling Cup I said we are not the finished article and we are saying the same thing now.”

“He’s a special player. It was a fantastic performance.

“Everybody knows what’s coming ahead on Saturday but the team did their jobs professionally and efficiently.”

“The players who play on Tuesday will have the same determination to get the victory,” said the Liverpool manager. “I can’t guarantee we will be as good as that but the players who play will do as well as they can.”

“Luis has been like that many times this year and not been rewarded – and it’s the same with the team.

“That third goal is not difficult to score if you’ve got Luis Suarez’s ability – it’s more difficult if you are a mere mortal.

“The clean sheet was also important for us. It gives the defenders and Pepe Reina a bit of a boost.”

Midfielder Steven Gerrard had praise for Suarez as well.

“I was just about to give him a rollicking but I ended up clapping him,” said Gerrard. “It was a fantastic individual performance by Luis. It was world class, so clinical.

“We are lucky to have him. Only certain players in the world can score goals like that third one – and he is one of them. It was about vision more than technique.”

FA Cup Final – Liverpool v Chelsea @ Wembley Stadium, London

On Saturday, May 5, 2012, Liverpool will clash with FC Chelsea to battle for the FA Cup Trophy.

Jamie Carragher stated that the entire Reds squad all hope to secure a spot on the upcoming FA Cup clash squad versus FC Chelsea.

Kenny Dalglish, Liverpool boss, will reportedly rotate the squad in their two Premier League games leading up to the FA Cup match in order to give players a chance to prove themselves.

“It’s all to play for in terms of cup final places,” said Carragher.

“But we’re going into these games to get three points because we need to move up the table. Of course, if you perform well in these games, you have a greater chance of playing in the final.

“And certainly, we all want to play in the big games. There are two games now before the final and I’m sure the manager will mix it up because the Fulham game is just before the cup final.

“Saturday’s match could have a similar effect to the Blackburn game. If you look at that game, I think a few of the players forced themselves into the side against Everton through their performances against Blackburn.

“We’d like to finish above Everton but I’d rather win the semi-final, like we did against them, than if they were to finish above us,” said Carragher.

“I think everyone expected them to go down. Or have a real fight on their hands but they’ve come through it. They’ve kept a lot of the players who came up with them,” he added.

“I think they’ve got a lot of British players who have come through there as well. Credit to them and credit to their manager [Paul Lambert] – he’s probably in the run-in for Manager of the Year.

“It will be a very difficult game. It was a difficult game at home against them, so it’s going to be even more difficult at Carrow Road.”

Carragher admitted that Liverpool underestimated the threat of the Canaries when Lambert’s side grabbed a point at Anfield earlier in the season.

“Holt scored a good goal for them, a poor goal for us, if you like. But I think their ‘keeper played very well,” he said.

“I think it was John Ruddy that day and I remember him making a save from Luis Suarez right at the end.

“It was a great save. I think it was probably another one of those similar stories – we had enough chances to win the game. But when it’s only 1-0, there’s always a chance that they could score. I was impressed with Norwich that day. I think they acquitted themselves very well at Anfield.”

Liverpool yesterday announced they will begin their summer tour of North America with a friendly match in Canada.

Dalglish’s men will take on MLS side Toronto FC at the 47,000-capacity Rogers Centre, home of the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team. The game will take place on Saturday, July 21 and forms part of the World Football Challenge, which also involves Chelsea and Seattle Sounders.

Liverpool have previously confirmed the tour will include matches against Italian side Roma on July 25 at Boston’s Fenway Park and a clash at Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium to face Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool Update – Liverpool Football Tickets Comments Off

Kenny Dalglish, Liverpool FC Manager

Liverpool Update

The Reds are in seventh place in the England Premier League battle for silverware this campaign.

Tiredness, injuries and refereeing decisions are to blame for Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat by Wigan, said Liverpool boss, Kenny Dalglish.

With Craig Bellamy, Charlie Adam, Daniel Agger and Glen Johnson all injured, Dalglish was short of options to give a rest to the men that beat Stoke City in the FA Cup on Sunday before losing 3-2 at QPR on Wednesday night.

“We are not going through the best run of having players available to us,” said Dalglish.

“But, if we do have designs on stepping forward, we need to learn how to manage three games in six days.

“If that is the schedule, we have to live with it and we have to have a stronger squad to be able to handle it.”

Dalglish included teenager Raheem Sterling in his squad to become the club’s third youngest debutant at 17 years and 97 days.

“It’s not fair on him,” said Dalglish. “He’s a good player and a good lad but we’re going to have to manage him.

“He might have enjoyed getting on the pitch but I don’t think it’s the way forward for us.”

QPR 3-2 Liverpool Comments Off

Dirk Kuyt, Liverpool FC

QPR 3-2 Liverpool

Liverpool lost to QPR 3-2.

Dirk Kuyt of Liverpool and Sebastian Coates of Liverpool scored goals during the Barclays Premier League match between Queens Park Rangers and Liverpool at Loftus Road on March 21, 2012 in London, England.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish thinks Liverpool should have won their match against lucky QPR.

“Liverpool should have won the game with all their domination but what a comeback from QPR. They never gave up and got their reward to leave Loftus Road rocking.”

“It’s very difficult to explain. We played some fantastic football. We were deserving of our lead and we weren’t even under pressure.

“With a wee bit of care and better finishing we might have been three or four up at half-time.

“You just couldn’t see a goal coming from them and maybe the luck they didn’t get against Bolton they got here.”

QPR manager Mark Hughes was pleased with their comeback.

“We’ve come back from a situation where we looked dead and buried. I didn’t think we deserved to be 2-0 down,” said Hughes.

“We had nothing to lose and thought let’s go for it, which is what we did. We took the game back to Liverpool.

“I thought the crowd were fantastic as they never lost faith in us. Once we got a little bit of momentum they drove us over the line.”

Liverpool Win Carling Cup Comments Off

Liverpool Win 2012 Carling Cup Silverware!

Carling Cup Final 2012 – Cardiff City 2-3 Liverpool FC

Kenny Dalglish manager of Liverpool and Jamie Carragher celebrated with the Carling Cup trophy after the 2012 Carling Cup Final match between Liverpool FC and Cardiff City at Wembley Stadium on February 26, 2012 in London, England.

Liverpool ended their six-year barren trophy spell by winning the 2012 Carling Cup – defeating Cardiff City 2-3 in the end in overtime on penalties after a hard-fought battle on the field from the Championship side.

After the match Kenny Dalglish described Liverpool’s Carling Cup final victory as the start of a new era of success for Liverpool after they collected their first trophy in six years.

After being brought onboard as manager, Dalglish has brought Liverpool up to a trophy and the fight at the top of the Premiership and FA Cup from just hovering above the relegation zone to the delight of Liverpool’s new owners, Fenway Sports Group.

Dalglish was looking for silverware in his first full season back as manager. Dalglish believes the trophy win will whet the appetite of his men for Champions League qualification and the FA Cup this season.

“We are delighted to have won a trophy. It was a difficult game and I thought Cardiff represented their club very well. They tried everything.

“We deserved our first trophy in six years but we need to continue to work hard and see where it takes us. We didn’t think six years ago that it would take this long to win our next trophy. We have won it, we will really enjoy it and it will give us a flavour to come back and do it again.

“Every member of the squad has contributed to this and worked really hard to get here. Now we need to see if we can kick on from here. I think this will inspire the players. I don’t think anyone has ever won a trophy at Wembley, the Millennium [Stadium] or Europe and not come away without enjoying it. It must give you a taste for more. That doesn’t mean to say it’s going to happen but it can have an impact.”

“We are here because of all the hard work that everyone has put in, not just me. Today has been the culmination of a lot of hard work from a lot of people such as the owners, directors, players and management. Everyone has worked as hard as they can to take the club forward. We have won a trophy today but that is not us finished.”

Dalglish was visibly affected after Anthony Gerrard’s final kick missed wide of José Reina’s goal – one of five penalties missed in total after the game finished 2-2 after extra time.

“I was emotional. This means a lot to an awful lot of people and that is what this club stands for. All we try to do is make them as happy as we possibly can and hopefully this makes up for the days when it hasn’t been like that.”

Steven Gerrard lifted his first trophy as Liverpool captain at Wembley – Liverpool’s fifth trophy including the 1984 and 2005 European Cup finals, the 2006 FA Cup and the 2001 Worthington Cup.

Liverpool chairman, Tom Werner said after the match, “It was a nerve‑racking afternoon but a wonderful result. My nerves were shot. I didn’t watch the penalties, I just heard them.

“There was a lot of pressure on Kenny today so we’re relieved for him because the expectations were so high. He deserves an enormous amount of credit and now we can move on. Our goal is still to reach the Champions League but this has been a big day for us.

“It’s a privilege to be involved with Liverpool. This is our eighth win in the competition. I hope this is a statement, even though it’s only one marker but it gives us the enthusiasm to move forward.”

Andy Carroll, Liverpool FC

Carling Cup Final 2012 – Liverpool v Cardiff City

Liverpool is headed into the Carling Cup Final this weekend and Andy Carroll is looking confident, fit and up for the important clash with Cardiff.

Liverpool FC striker Andy Carroll believes he will justify his £35 million transfer fee after a Man of the Match performance last weekend. Carroll played his best game to date for Liverpool in the 6-1 FA Cup defeat of Brighton, scoring the third goal – as the twenty-three year old striker begins to hit form after recovering from injury.

Carroll has scored two goals in four matches, three since the turn of the year – doubling his tally to six for the 2011-12 season.

“I feel like I am doing well. I have just started scoring goals and I am doing well in games. I think it has all come together,” said Carroll.

“Without a doubt and I think it shows in my performances – getting around the pitch a bit more, getting involved. I am happy, more confident and things are going all right.

“The whole team played well and I was delighted to get a goal and obviously so for Luis as well.”
